A World Without Boundaries

NarniaMUCK is a Role-Playing Muck. Our job as staff is to come up with ways to encourage and foster great role-play and great stories. We do so in variety of ways--imposing  limitations on the characters and their world, helping bring the right characters together, writing larger arcs that everyone can take part in, and building an ever-growing playground for us all to play "make believe" in. New Forum Theme

You may have noticed in recent weeks a new theme for the forums that is slightly more in keeping with the main body of the website. It's been sort of my pet project for the last several weeks and as of this writing I believe I've finally gotten it to the point where everything works as intended.

However! I am going to be completely honest with you! I don't know the first thing about web development, and it's possible that there are lots of things that I have broken or browsers in which everything looks atrocious. To that end, I would be greatly appreciative if you could let me know about any possible bugs you find with the new forum skin. I can be contacted by email (blackclaw@narniamuck.org), in-game page mail, or by forum message.

Server Restarted!

My apologies to anyone that was connected this afternoon. I was checking on some things, attempted to open the server log file (a REALLY large text file) in Emacs--this was apparently too much for the machine. We were back up quite quickly though.

Be Nice!

I play an online computer game which will remain nameless. Socially, the game is a great deal like a MU*...small independently operated servers with a small staff. I had been playing 'lone wolf' style--playing independently of the other players on the game. I paid only marginal attention to what staff and other players were talking about on public chat. On occasion, I saw some things go by that got an raised eyebrow or two, but I ignored it... Read more »

Website Performance Adjustments

Mobiles (NPCs and Prey) Improving!

Our mobiles (anything that moves/talks/etc. around on its own without a player) are handled by a program called Animazing. We've had some recent problems with Animazing in that it couldn't stay running the way it normally does... Read more »

Website Software Updated!

We updated the software that runs our website this morning. If you were up early enough you may have noticed the brief downtime of the website while I upgraded the CMS software, Drupal.

Let us know if anything seems out of place via either the in-game commands (bug, typo, gripe, idea, compliment) or the web-based request system (http://requests.narniamuck.org).

MUCKing Tip of the Day: RP Scenarios

Sometime when you're feeling creative and/or bored, brainstorm a list of fun and different RP ideas to keep for a rainy day. This helps you have something interesting to pull out of the box when there's nothing going on so that you don't get stuck sitting and talking about The Weather all the time. Some ideas to get you started: your Daughter of Eve has a persistent and embarrassing case of the hiccups, your Dwarf is ready to tar and feather his neighbor for snoring so loudly, and your Wolf keeps inviting the Squirrels' ire by stumbling upon their acorn stashes.
